  11. What is DepecheOS?
  12. DepecheOS is a scheme file for the very cool shareware control panel Kaleidoscope (which you should know if you bothered to download this). This scheme is basically what I wanted to see in a scheme. I saw a few schemes that I thought had great looks (Onyx, Jaded Malachite, etc.), but none of them had everything I wanted. Mainly, I wanted a LOT of blue, as well as some nice references to one of my favorite bands...Depeche Mode.

  14. Are the any special items in DepecheOS?
  15. Yes. I made the Windowshade sound change into the intro to the Depeche Mode song "Master & Servant". When you click to collapse a window, you hear a high-pitched "It's A Lot", and you hear the lower pitched "It's A Lot" when you bring the window back. Also, my credit screen is a nice hack of the MacOS startup screen, plus I replaced the generic icon with a picture of the Strangelove cover, and I replaced the double-clickable system sound icon with the megaphone logo cover of the "Behind The Wheel" single (but only the full-sized icon - the smaller sound icons are still the standard Apple ones). Examples of the icons are shown below.

  32. Is there any fee for DepecheOS?
  33. No. This is freeware. Since I have enjoyed all the fine shareware/freeware that's available on the net, and all the time that people have put into their creations, I thought this would be my way of giving back. Though, if you really do like the scheme, might I suggest that you go and buy a Depeche Mode CD. You'll like it.

  36. This scheme was created on a PowerMac 8500/180, using Kaleidoscope 1.7.3., and running System 7.5.5.. It runs fine for me, but I make no warranties for you. It looks less-than-pleasant with anything less than 256 colors (I run millions of colors myself).

  39. Please do NOT include this scheme on any Info-Mac CD Roms. Due to the use of the Depeche Mode icons and sounds, as well as the hidden Apple hack, selling a CD containing this would be a copyright violation. Downloading this scheme for your own personal use is fair use though.

All Depeche Mode sounds and icons are ｩMute Records. The hidden Apple screen shot is a variation of the MacOS logo, which is ｩApple Computer. These copyrighted items are used without permission, but with no financial gain, and are not meant to make any of the companies appear in a bad way. If this scheme bothers any copyright holders, please feel free to email me.
